Bar Luce by Wes Anderson
Inspired by the atmosphere of Milan caffès in the 1950s and 1960s, Bar Luce is considered by many one of the most stunning bars in Milano.
Located at the Fondazione Prada, this painfully beautiful eatery (design by filmaker Wes Anderson) also takes inspiration from movies such as “Rocco and His Brothers” by Luchino Visconti and “Miracle in Milan” by Vittorio De Sica.
Anderson tastefully recreated the atmosphere of a typical Milanese caffè thanks to various details including the veneered wooden panelling that lines the walls, the upholstered Formica furniture, and the pastel-heavy colour palette reminiscent of Italian popular culture. Other details include a pink terrazzo floor speckled with flashes of red, grey and white, and two rows of spherical pendant lights.
Whenever you need a little break from contemplating the amazing art at the Fondazione or if you simply want to enjoy a coffee or an aperitivo, Bar Luce is a mandatory stop when visiting Italy’s fashion capital.
